Activated charcoal toothpaste tips

If you are new to using activated charcoal in toothpaste here are a few hints and tips for embracing this unique ingredient:

  • Toothpastes made with activated charcoal create a very unique brushing experience. Yep your teeth, well your whole mouth really, will turn black as you brush. Don’t panic!  The black residue in your mouth may take more rinsing so take a little extra time to make sure you rinse your mouth out well
  • The toothpaste may mark your basin. That residue can be removed with a few additional splashes of water also
  • If you use an electric toothbrush, don’t turn it on until you have the activated charcoal vegan toothpaste in your mouth otherwise you will splatter black specks all over your bathroom
  • Consider brushing your teeth in the shower. That way you can contain the mess. Your shower recess can be cleared of all black residue with a few splashes of water

It is important to note that your toothbrush will change colour which is probably no surprise to you. Embrace the change.
